|Pedigrees are important in a breeding program. Even if you cannot tell quality by looking at a pedigree (or even if there are missing elements from a pedigree) you can see how well it will match up with that of your jennet. You would never want to add in the same jack or jennet too many times in a bloodline - called inbreeding or linebreeding - where there are many unknown factors. You can get the best by doing this, but you also risk the worst.
